Amas, A Support Service from The NEWPLC

The word Amas stands for, Arbitration, Mediation, and Advisory Service.The art or science of government is not the exclusive prerogative of politicians. Looking at governmental or institutional structure, from outside the structure, can bring a breath of fresh air into a structure that is wobbly or going down a slippery slope.

We are promoting this Service in selected regions of the world. If a Prime Minister or President receives a letter from us, out of the blue, please do not take offence. We would not send a letter introducing Amas unless we recognise the presence of a problem which calls for our modest intervention on behalf of the inhabitants of that particular nation state.

Policy Science: definitions

Advocacy is about speaking out and making oneself heard; it is about taking a stand through the agency of another person

Advocacy is one of the components of Mentoring. In this aspect, the fundamental purpose of this programme concerns the Theory and Practice of Devil's Advocacy

Arbitration means, a platform for airing and resolving grievances of a governmental, institutional or administrative nature, subject to a caveat that the Parties directly affected by the subject matter of a given Cause and Effect may not leave the platform until an agreement is reached:.

The word Counselling is derived from the Latin word consilium ...to advise. However, the term has become synonymous with Psychiatry as more and more people from all walks of life are seeking Counselling as a medicinal remedy for their worries. Our own approach is different. Firstly, we accept that Counselling is also a component of Mentoring. However, there is a difference. Unlike Advocacy, Counselling is concerned with the process of conditioning the mind to accept certain predefined faults in an ongoing relationship

Mediation is another component of Mentoring. Mediating has often been confused, with meddling - meddling in other people's problems. This is an unfair role of mediation in disputes.

This Programme is specifically designed to elevate mediating to a therapeutic level. There can be no mediation without the consent of the parties in dispute.
